Situated at only 3,000 feet elevation, the Flathead offers one of the lowest mountain destinations in the west. The valley is home to two well known lakes, Whitefish Lake at the north and Flathead Lake occupying the southern half of the valley. Both lakes offer easy access for recreational activities with private land, public parks and campground opportunities. The charming Bigfork Village is located at the north end of Flathead Lake, renowned as an artist's enclave and summer beach town. The town of Whitefish is situated at the south end of Whitefish Lake, below the slopes of the Whitefish Mountain Ski and Summer Resort just four miles away.
