Montana’s Flathead Valley has been a vacation destination since the Great Northern Railroad first pioneered into the region. Executives of the railroad, seeking to establish the area as a world class destination in the late 1800s lobbied for approval of Glacier National Park. Their efforts succeeded in 1910 and since the area has grown into national and international prominence.
