Nikki Frizzell

As a child I was fortunate to vacation in Montana learning to ski at “Big Mountain” and spending a few weeks each summer playing in the lakes and exploring the trails. Though I grew up in sunny Florida I always knew the mountains were home and I looked forward to the day when I would be able to put down roots in Flathead Valley soil. In 2006 my husband Jim and our two kids made the leap. I had retired from a career at Northwest Airlines and Jim from a career with General Mills. The kids were little and the timing was perfect. Like so many of the clients that I've gotten to know Jim and I shared a deep desire to live closer to nature far from the city with its bright lights and honking horns. We share an innate desire to be strong and self-sufficient when it seems like the world around us is increasingly unstable. We were drawn to this area where there is clean water wild game fertile soil and a local population of like-minded folks who thrive on living a common-sense lifestyle. We live on a small cherry orchard in Woods Bay just south of Bigfork where we have farm animals a big garden and regular hiking camping and ATV adventures in the surrounding public lands. I admire the people of my community who so willingly come together to help each other when there's a need. I've been honored to be a volunteer and substitute teacher in the Bigfork School system a Cub Scout Leader for our local BSA chapter and for years have coached the Middle School Yearbook team. As a volunteer with the LEAP (formerly ACES) after school program I started the Bigfork Bucket Band and helped start the KidsPraise youth choir. It's been a privilege to be a part of the worship music team at Crossroads Christian Fellowship for close to eight years and I am active in serving our local Tres Dias chapter. Most rewarding for me has been the opportunity to serve as a founding board member for Child Bridge an NPO that was started right here in Bigfork and has grown across the State of Montana. When the people of God come together we can accomplish incredible things- Just ask any of the hundreds of children that now have loving foster and permanent families because of Child Bridge.
